The Office of Disaster Preparedness and Management (ODPM) is advising residents and commuters in the Diego Martin area to exercise caution. This is due to flash flooding in parts of Bagatelle and reports that the Diego Martin River levels are currently high.
In an advisory released a short while ago, the agency advised: "Persons living or commuting along the river bank are advised to monitor the conditions and take precautionary measures to safe guard life and property. If in the area, get to higher ground. Wait until the flood water subsides. Use alternative routes, where possible.
There are also reports of flooding in Maraval, along the Couva Main Road and Pointe-a-Pierre.
Citizens affected by flooding are urged to contact their respective Disaster Management Unit to receive assistance and mitigate damages.
