Officers seize firearm and ammo

West­ern Di­vi­sion Po­lice con­tin­ued have seized a firearm and sev­er­al rounds of am­mu­ni­tion in the West End dis­trict.

Be­tween 4 pm and 7 pm on Thurs­day of­fi­cers con­duct­ed an an­ti-crime ex­er­cise in the dis­trict on Pi­o­neer Dri­ve, Pe­tit Val­ley.

Dur­ing the search, they dis­cov­ered a black home­made 12-gauge shot­gun with one round of 12-gauge am­mu­ni­tion. The item was seized, and in­ves­ti­ga­tions are on­go­ing.

Lat­er that day, mem­bers of the Mar­aval Charge Room con­duct­ed an ex­er­cise in the dis­trict.

Dur­ing the ex­er­cise, the team found a plas­tic bag, hid­den be­neath a sheet of gal­vanised alu­mini­um, con­tain­ing 27 rounds of .38 spe­cial am­mu­ni­tion off the road­way at Ce­les­tine Trace, Mar­aval. The items were seized, and in­ves­ti­ga­tions are on­go­ing in­to the find.

These ex­er­cis­es were co­or­di­nat­ed by ACP Hen­ry, Se­nior Su­per­in­ten­dent Williams, and led by In­spec­tor Ray­mond, Su­per­in­ten­dent De Mat­tos, and As­sis­tant Su­per­in­ten­dent Lynch, re­spec­tive­ly.
