One man was killed and sev­en oth­ers ar­rest­ed fol­low­ing a po­lice-in­volved shoot­ing in­ci­dent which oc­curred in the Tacarigua dis­trict on Fri­day night.

Ac­cord­ing to po­lice re­ports, around 9:05 pm on Fri­day, of­fi­cers were on mo­bile pa­trol in the dis­trict when they re­ceived in­for­ma­tion about a group of men al­leged­ly tam­per­ing with a Nis­san Syl­phy mo­tor ve­hi­cle.

The of­fi­cers pro­ceed­ed to the lo­ca­tion where they ob­served the ac­tiv­i­ties of the group. The men looked in the di­rec­tion of the of­fi­cers and ran off in­to a near­by house be­fore al­leged­ly shoot­ing at them.

The of­fi­cers, in keep­ing with the Use of Force Pol­i­cy, re­turned fire in the di­rec­tion of the sus­pects, hit­ting one of them.

The sus­pect was tak­en to the Er­ic Williams Med­ical Sci­ences Com­plex, where he was pro­nounced dead. He has been iden­ti­fied as Jor­dan Nathan, 19, of Dins­ley Vil­lage.

One re­volver and four live rounds of .38 am­mu­ni­tion were re­cov­ered from the scene.

With the as­sis­tance of oth­er Units, sev­en oth­er sus­pects ages 18 to 29, were ar­rest­ed in the im­me­di­ate sur­round­ing ar­eas.
