Prime Minister Dr. Keith Rowley has joined the many voices extending congratulations to Joshua Regrello for seeking to set at least two Guinness World Records.
The Prime Minister congratulated Regrello in a Facebook post, noting he completed his attempt to set the record for playing the Steelpan for 31 hours, surpassing his initial goal of 30 hours.
Dr. Rowley said:
"Even as we await the official confirmation, I extend my heartfelt congratulations to you, Joshua Regrello, on successfully completing your attempt."
The PM praised Regrello’s dedication, saying:
"Your dedication, perseverance, and passion for our national instrument have been truly inspiring."
The Prime Minister said Regrello’s achievement united the country and the diaspora.
"You have filled a nation with pride, and I am sure the pioneers of the steelpan, both past and present, are proud of you."
Dr. Rowley also highlighted the cultural significance of the feat saying he "elevated the art form on the global stage."
"This is a testament to the power of music to unite and inspire. Your achievement will serve as an inspiration to future generations of musicians, both here and around the world," Dr Rowley said. "You have made your mark in history, and the nation celebrates with you."
