Prime Minister Dr Keith Rowley held talks with congressmen from the House Foreign Affairs Committee in Washington DC Tuesday, the Office of the Prime Minister has said.
Minister of Energy and Energy Industries and Minister in the Office of the Prime Minister, Stuart Young also attended the meetings.
Dr Rowley first met with Congressman John James (R-Michigan) at the Longworth House Office Building.
Representative James serves as a member of the subcommittee on Western Hemisphere.
The prime minister also met with congressman Gregory Meeks (D-NY 5th District) at the Rayburn House Office Building.
Congressman Meeks is the ranking member of the House Foreign Affairs Committee. He formerly served as the chairman of the House Foreign Affairs Committee.
The discussions focused on efforts geared towards energy security for Trinidad and Tobago and the wider region.
It was recognised that Trinidad and Tobago is an important ally providing welcome support and stability in the region, according to the statement issued by the PM’s office.
Dr Rowley travelled to Washington last week Thursday to attend the Howard University graduation ceremony on Saturday, where he was conferred an honorary doctor of letters degree.
US President Joseph Biden was also awarded an honorary doctorate and delivered the main address at the event.
Dr Rowley has also been meeting with energy officials in Washington.
