Po­lice are prob­ing five mur­ders which oc­curred from Wednes­day night in­to yes­ter­day.

In the lat­est in­ci­dent, 21-year-old Alexan­der Brown, of Chi­napoo, was pro­nounced dead at the Port-of-Spain Gen­er­al Hos­pi­tal (PoS­GH) af­ter he was shot near Chaf­ford Courts around 5.15 pm. 

Of­fi­cers of the Guard and Emer­gency Branch vis­it­ed the scene af­ter re­ceiv­ing a call from a res­i­dent and found the vic­tim bleed­ing from gun­shots. 

Two peo­ple were al­so gunned down at Ovid Al­ley, Laven­tille, Port-of-Spain, 45 min­utes lat­er. 

Of­fi­cers said Tyresse Cowie, of San­ta Cruz, and Tyrese Charles, of Barataria, were re­port­ed­ly vis­it­ing their girl­friends in the com­mu­ni­ty at 6 pm, when they were ac­cost­ed and shot. Po­lice said that the gun­man/gun­men re­port­ed­ly took pho­tos of the vic­tims and sent them elec­tron­i­cal­ly to some­one to con­firm their iden­ti­ties be­fore shoot­ing them.

On Wednes­day, Un­em­ploy­ment Re­lief Pro­gramme (URP) fore­man Avid “Blindy” Re­ece, 47, was killed at his Up­per Co­corite Trace, Co­corite home.

Po­lice said he stand­ing in his gallery at 8.35 pm when gun­shots were heard.

A rel­a­tive of Re­ece who was in­side rushed out to find him bleed­ing from mul­ti­ple gun­shot wounds about the body. The po­lice were no­ti­fied of the killing.

In an un­re­lat­ed in­ci­dent, San­gre Grande res­i­dent Tyrell Al­varez, 27, was killed while asleep at his North­east­ern Set­tle­ment, San­gre Grande home.

Po­lice said at 12.30 am, Al­varez was asleep in his bed­room when a 45-year-old male friend, who was asleep in the liv­ing room, re­port­ed­ly heard gun­shots com­ing from the room. It was al­leged the friend ran in­to the room and found Al­varez bleed­ing from a gun­shot wound to the head.

Of­fi­cers from the East­ern Di­vi­sion Task Force re­spond­ed and found Al­varez still alive. He was tak­en by po­lice to the San­gre Grande Hos­pi­tal where he suc­cumbed to his in­juries at 2.17 am.
