President hails Boothman’s contribution to culture

Pres­i­dent Chris­tine Kan­ga­loo has hailed the tal­ents and con­tri­bu­tions of song­writer, mu­si­cian and artist Roger Booth­man.

Booth­man, who was 67, died in his sleep last week Thurs­day. The Of­fice of the Pres­i­dent ex­tend­ed con­do­lences to Booth­man who was award­ed a Hum­ming­bird Medal Sil­ver in Sep­tem­ber last year for his con­tri­bu­tion to cul­ture and the arts.

Booth­man was al­so recog­nised for his song­writ­ing abil­i­ties, hav­ing won awards in­clud­ing the Na­tion­al Song Fes­ti­val, the Com­mon­wealth Song Com­pe­ti­tion and the Caribbean Song Fes­ti­val, which he won three times.

Fam­i­ly mem­bers said fu­ner­al arrange­ments for Booth­man are still to be fi­nalised and de­tails would be shared lat­er this week.
