President Paula-Mae Weekes is heading to Tobago for five days near the end of January 2019 is has opened her office to meet citizens there and is accepting invitations for that period.
A statement from the Office of the President on Thursday said her decision to be stationed in Tobago for five days is "in keeping with her commitment to serve all of Trinidad and Tobago."
Weekes, a former Appeal Court judge, who was elected to the nation's highest office, in March intends to periodically execute her duties from Tobago, the release said.
"Accordingly, from January 28 through February 1, 2019, President Weekes will be operating from an office at Magdalena Grand, Tobago Plantations Estate, Lowlands, Tobago.
Persons wishing to see the President or invite her to attend an event in Tobago while she is there, are asked to email their requests to otp.mail@otp.gov.tt.
While there is an official residence for the President in Tobago, the state of the building, like President's House, in St Ann's is in need of urgent repair.
