As the fam­i­ly of Randy Graves gath­ered to bid him farewell ear­li­er this morn­ing, the pre­sid­ing priest urged the con­gre­ga­tion to call out those in au­thor­i­ty for fail­ing to act when they are found do­ing “stu­pid­ness.”

Graves, 32, was among five peo­ple killed on March 17, when gun­men opened fire on res­i­dents of Harpe Place, Port-of-Spain.

De­liv­er­ing the homi­ly dur­ing Graves’s fu­ner­al at the Holy Rosary RC Church, Park Street, Port-of-Spain – Fa­ther Matthew Dhere­aux plead­ed with those present to stand up for good­ness.

He said peo­ple need to choose an al­ter­na­tive way of life where the vul­ner­a­ble and voice­less are pro­tect­ed.

Dhere­aux chal­lenged those lis­ten­ing to say no more to the cor­rup­tion and lies, and to stand up to the rich and pow­er­ful per­sons be­hind the im­por­ta­tion of il­le­gal firearms in­to the coun­try which were con­tribut­ing to the flow of blood of in­no­cent vic­tims on the na­tion’s streets.
