Prohibited items seized at Maximum Security Prison

Sev­er­al pro­hib­it­ed items were found dur­ing an ex­er­cise at the Max­i­mum Se­cu­ri­ty Prison in Arou­ca yes­ter­day. The joint ex­er­cise, con­duct­ed be­tween 5:30 pm and 8 pm was spear­head­ed by ACP Sama­roo, Snr. Supt. Ram­phall, Supt. Pow­der, co­or­di­nat­ed by In­sp. High­ly and in­clud­ed of­fi­cers of the Tu­na­puna and Mal­oney Crim­i­nal In­ves­ti­ga­tions De­part­ments and the Trinidad and To­ba­go Prison Ser­vice, led by DCP Prince and ACP Nel­son.

Ac­cord­ing to po­lice re­ports, dur­ing the ex­er­cise, of­fi­cers con­duct­ed search­es of sev­er­al cells at the Wayne Jack­son Build­ing at the Prison. The search re­sult­ed in one cel­lu­lar phone, a num­ber of as­sort­ed cig­a­rettes, three im­pro­vised weapons, one head­set, one shaver, one lighter, five pieces of wrap­ping pa­per, two SIM cards and one mem­o­ry card, be­ing dis­cov­ered. In­ves­ti­ga­tions are on­go­ing.
