A teenager, who was found bleeding from stab wounds at the Queen’s Park Savannah (QPS), Port-of-Spain, on Tuesday and who later died at hospital, has been identified as Khaleeq Thomas.
Thomas, 19, was unemployed and lived at Picton Road, Dan Kelly, Laventille.
His death is believed to be the result of an altercation with another man. Around 2.35 pm on August 13, police received a report of an injured man lying face-down near the food strip at the QPS, opposite the National Academy of Performing Arts.
When they arrived, two teenagers, aged 15 and 17, both from Eastern Quarry, Laventille, directed them to where the victim was lying.
Thomas, who had stab wounds in the head and upper body, was responsive at the time.
Police officers from the St Clair Police Station took the victim to the Port-of-Spain General Hospital, where he passed away at 2.44 pm.
While at the hospital, the officers received information that resulted in the arrest of a 46-year-old man from Malabar, Arima, who himself had gone to seek medical attention.
He was later taken to the Woodbrook Police Station.
When Thomas was found at the QPS, his pants had been pulled down, and he was in a pair of briefs and a pair of maroon-coloured sneakers.
Evidence was collected at the scene that belonged to the suspect, including a blue jersey, a green-printed jersey, a pair of black long pants, a pair of cream-coloured sneakers and a cellphone.
Investigations are continuing.
