People’s hearts are coming between God’s plans for peace in this world and it’s time for the people in power and those of influence to give people the courage to stand for peace and non-violence.
This was the strong message delivered yesterday by Archbishop Charles Jason Gordon during a Holy Mass for the Consecration of Russia and Ukraine to the Immaculate Heart of Mary at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception in Port-of-Spain.
Yesterday’s Holy Mass was a very solemn moment where the bishops around the world united with the Holy Father in this act.
The Archbishop said God is always about bringing peace in our world but added that “we are the ones who bring divisions, we are the ones who bring the wars, we are the ones who bring all the difficulties we face because of our close-heartedness to God, because of our rebellion to God, because of our no to God, all of the divisions comes into the world.”
Gordon said God has a plan for peace in the world and the only thing coming between God’s plan is “your heart and my heart being either turned towards God or bring turned away from God.”
“It is our hearts that need to be turned towards the Divine so that we be a conduit of peace in our world today and the Consecration is much about us turning our hearts towards peace and non-violence, as it is about the people of Russia and Ukraine turning their Hearts towards peace and non-violence,” Gordon said.
“Those who have influence must give them the courage to stand for peace, no matter what it means personally for them and that is for you and I, not for only the people in power but for all of us.”
The Archbishop begged for mercy and for people’s hearts to be turned towards God and lifted fervent prayers for peace in the world.
