Dr Keith Rowley, in one of his final acts as Political Leader of the People’s National Movement (PNM), has revoked the appointments of Dr Nyan Gadsby-Dolly and Colm Imbert as Deputy Political Leaders of the party.
The revocations were outlined in a letter dated April 30, 2025, addressed to the General Secretary of the PNM. The letter stated:
“In keeping with the requirements of the Constitution I hereby revoke the appointment of the following officers:
Dr Nyan Gadsby-Dolly – Deputy Political Leader
Colm Imbert – Deputy Political Leader
No further explanation was provided for the decision.
The move comes amid a wave of significant leadership changes within the PNM.
Dr Rowley officially resigned as Political Leader of the party effective May 1, 2025, ending his 15-year tenure at the helm.
His departure follows repeated statements that he would not lead the party into another general election.
Also stepping down is Stuart Young, who resigned as Chairman of the PNM. Young, who serves as Prime Minister, had held the post as part of the party’s internal leadership team.
In addition, Rohan Sinanan has resigned from his party post as a Deputy Political Leader as well.
The resignations come just days after the April 28 General Election in which the PNM lost by only gaining 13 seats compared to 26 by the United National Congress (UNC). The Tobago People’s Party (TPP) won the two seats in Tobago.
The party is yet to announce successors for any of the vacated positions.
