Scores of people turned up for opening of T&T's first indoor ice skating rink

Ea­ger to ex­pe­ri­ence a win­ter won­der­land for the first time, scores of peo­ple turned up for the open­ing of T&T's first in­door ice skat­ing rink in La Ro­maine on Fri­day.

And even though it was not over­ly cold, pa­trons came pre­pared, dressed in warm cloth­ing for the ex­pe­ri­ence.

For $85, cus­tomers were giv­en 20 min­utes on the ice. The win­ter won­der­land snow­park was al­so avail­able for $75. Many of the peo­ple in­ter­viewed had nev­er ice skat­ed be­fore.

Jaime Bir­bal who brought her niece Kar­ish­ma Bir­bal and nephew Aa­didev Bir­bal said the ex­pe­ri­ence was won­der­ful.

"It is not as hard as it looks. It is com­fort­able and the guys here are very help­ful," she said. Kar­ish­ma said it was the first time she had tried to ice skate.

The ice skat­ing fa­cil­i­ty is run by “Ice Caribbean En­ter­tain­ment Dis­trict," and is of­fer­ing free mem­ber­ship as part of its launch.
