Churchill Azad Akaloo, man­ag­ing di­rec­tor of Sheik Lisha Ltd, has been award­ed the Pres­i­dent’s Cor­po­rate So­cial Re­spon­si­bil­i­ty Award and the Dis­trib­u­tor of the Year 2018 Award.

The awards were pre­sent­ed to him at the re­cent Su­per­mar­kets As­so­ci­a­tion of T&T Din­ner and Award Cer­e­mo­ny at the Cen­tre of Ex­cel­lence in Ma­coya.

Sheik Lisha Ltd, a fam­i­ly-owned busi­ness, was es­tab­lished in T&T in 1953 by Ish­mael and Sahi­dan Akaloo. The com­pa­ny start­ed as a sole trad­er busi­ness, man­u­fac­tur­ing Ver­mi­cel­li, split peas pow­der and cur­ry pow­der.

The com­pa­ny is now head­ed by Akaloo, the on­ly son of Ish­mael and Sahi­dan. Akaloo’s vi­sion for the com­pa­ny is clear and he aims to achieve it through hard work, ded­i­ca­tion, hu­mil­i­ty and stay­ing in tune with new de­vel­op­ments in the in­dus­try.

With the as­sis­tance of his wife Kul­sum Sona Akaloo, chil­dren and oth­er fam­i­ly mem­bers, Akaloo has led the com­pa­ny to be­come one of the lead­ing man­u­fac­tur­ers and dis­trib­u­tors in T&T, serv­ing the Caribbean, North Amer­i­ca and Cana­da.

Over the last 65 years, the com­pa­ny has ex­pand­ed to over 100,000 square feet of man­u­fac­tur­ing and ware­hous­ing ca­pa­bil­i­ties, ex­tend­ed its prod­uct range and made sig­nif­i­cant in­vest­ments in the pa­per and plas­tic bag man­u­fac­tur­ing sec­tor.

The com­pa­ny of­fers a wide range of prod­ucts to su­per­mar­kets, hard­wares, laun­dries, phar­ma­cies and the food and agri­cul­tur­al sec­tors.

Akaloo at­trib­ut­es a huge part of the com­pa­ny’s suc­cess to its em­ploy­ees who con­tin­ue to be com­mit­ted and ded­i­cat­ed to main­tain­ing its high stan­dard.
