A Yellow Level Hazardous Seas Alert was issued by the Trinidad and Tobago Meteorological Service (TTMS) this morning with immediate effect, until 4 pm Thursday 5th December.
TTMS indicated that moderate to strong east-northeasterly surface winds will render sea conditions rough and choppy in open waters, mainly to the east of T&T and exposed (mainly eastern, and to a lesser extent northern) coastlines.
Wind-driven waves in excess of 2.5 metres are likely and conditions along exposed coastlines can be exacerbated at high tide, especially as spring tides (higher than normal high tides) are still in effect.
The TTMS advises that these conditions can be hazardous to small craft and offshore operations and marine interests in these areas are advised to exercise extreme caution.
