A Yel­low Lev­el Haz­ardous Seas Alert was is­sued by the Trinidad and To­ba­go Me­te­o­ro­log­i­cal Ser­vice (TTMS) this morn­ing with im­me­di­ate ef­fect, un­til 4 pm Thurs­day 5th De­cem­ber. 

TTMS in­di­cat­ed that mod­er­ate to strong east-north­east­er­ly sur­face winds will ren­der sea con­di­tions rough and chop­py in open wa­ters, main­ly to the east of T&T and ex­posed (main­ly east­ern, and to a less­er ex­tent north­ern) coast­lines. 

Wind-dri­ven waves in ex­cess of 2.5 me­tres are like­ly and con­di­tions along ex­posed coast­lines can be ex­ac­er­bat­ed at high tide, es­pe­cial­ly as spring tides (high­er than nor­mal high tides) are still in ef­fect. 

The TTMS ad­vis­es that these con­di­tions can be haz­ardous to small craft and off­shore op­er­a­tions and ma­rine in­ter­ests in these ar­eas are ad­vised to ex­er­cise ex­treme cau­tion.
