An 18-year-old student suffered a fractured rib after a vehicle hit her while she crossed the road in Point Fortin on Tuesday.
The driver told police she was heading north along Point Fortin Main Road around 2:30 pm in her Toyota Voxy. She reported that after passing the traffic light near Jattan Trace Junction, the student suddenly ran across the road from behind a vehicle heading south.
After the collision, the driver stopped to render aid. The teenager, a student at Point Fortin East Secondary School, lay on the ground. Officers from the Point Fortin Fire Station took the girl to Point Fortin Hospital, while the driver went to the police station to report the accident.
Point Fortin police are investigating.
