An 18-year-old stu­dent suf­fered a frac­tured rib af­ter a ve­hi­cle hit her while she crossed the road in Point Fortin on Tues­day.

The dri­ver told po­lice she was head­ing north along Point Fortin Main Road around 2:30 pm in her Toy­ota Voxy. She re­port­ed that af­ter pass­ing the traf­fic light near Jat­tan Trace Junc­tion, the stu­dent sud­den­ly ran across the road from be­hind a ve­hi­cle head­ing south.

Af­ter the col­li­sion, the dri­ver stopped to ren­der aid. The teenag­er, a stu­dent at Point Fortin East Sec­ondary School, lay on the ground. Of­fi­cers from the Point Fortin Fire Sta­tion took the girl to Point Fortin Hos­pi­tal, while the dri­ver went to the po­lice sta­tion to re­port the ac­ci­dent.
