All classes have been cancelled and on-campus operations partially suspended at the St Augustine Campus of The University of the West Indies (The UWI).
“In light of the prevailing weather conditions and their effect nationwide, Campus Management has taken the decision to close at this time. All classes are to be cancelled and rescheduled to another date,” The UWI notes in an advisory issued a short while ago.
It also issued advice to its staff and student populations:
“Please be mindful that some roadways are flooded and impassable at this time in order to avoid the gridlock. For persons leaving the campus now, three gates can be used to exit –, Heartease, Daaga and the Administrative gate at the top of Campus. The Campus Map can be accessed at http://uwi.maps.arcgis.com/apps/webappviewer/index.html?id=d2926d682c3c415ba00cf26e1d8ffec7
“The inclement weather is likely to continue for the next few hours, so persons are advised to use their best judgement in timing their departure. In some cases, it may be safer to stay on campus for the roadways to clear a bit,” the advisory added.
