People’s National Movement candidate for Signal Hill/Pleasant Hill in the Tobago House of Assembly elections, Tracy Davidson-Celestine, has accused the Progressive Democratic Patriots (PDP) and the United National Congress (UNC) of working together to prevent the good governance of Tobago.
During a meeting in the Bagatelle/Bacolet district on Monday night, Davidson-Celestine, the PNM’s Tobago Council leader, said when the UNC was in power from 2010 to 2015 and the PNM was heading the THA, “it was the worst time for us as people of Tobago.”
She recalled former THA Chief Secretary Orville London trying to meet with the then Prime Minister but being unsuccessful each time.
Davidson-Celestine urged Tobagonians to come out on December 6 and protect the island’s future, as she reminded them of the strides and steps taken by the PNM to assure Tobago’s continued development.
Among the achievements listed was the construction of several health centres in Roxborough; Moriah; Charlotteville and Canaan/Bon Accord in recent years.
Other projects she boasted about included eight community centres built by the PNM, as she said $40 million was spent to develop every electoral district across the island.
A swimming pool and several pan theatres were highlighted as other infrastructure works that the people of Tobago are now benefitting from.
In the area of tertiary education, Davidson-Celestine said the island had been educating nurses, doctors and teachers as part of “walking the talk” and investing in facilities and the people of Tobago.
“We have been tried, we have been tested and most importantly, we have been proven and we are about delivery to the people of Tobago,” Davidson-Celestine said.
Davidson-Celestine called on Tobagonians not to let themselves get caught in any trickery and to avoid being hoodwinked into electing the Progressive Democratic Patriots (PDP).
She assured the young, old, single, vulnerable mothers, farmers, fishermen, and those simply wanting land to build homes that the PNM had a plan to help them improve their circumstances.
Meanwhile, in a brief video posted to his Facebook page yesterday, PDP leader Watson Duke did some canvassing in the Darrel Spring area with a roving polling box, as he invited the people in the community to cast their ballot.
