Police officers have arrested two persons in connection with three stolen vehicles while discovering a firearm, a magazine and narcotics during several coordinated exercises last evening.
During the early hours of Friday 14th October, 2022, the Central Division Gang Unit conducted an intelligence-led exercise in the Chaguanas policing district. The officers searched a home at Cacandee Road, Felicity, where the officers allegedly discovered 23 grammes of cocaine, one magazine and eight rounds of nine millimetre ammunition, and one black Nissan Primera which was reported stolen. A man was arrested and taken to the station pending further investigation.
In the same exercise officer made their way to another house located along Pierre Road, Felicity, where they discovered one black BMW, one Silver Mitsubishi Lancer and one Silver Ford Ranger all three vehicles matched the description of reported stolen vehicles. The vehicles were wrecked to the station, and one person was arrested in this matter pending further investigation.
Officers of the Stolen Vehicles Squad in the Central Division conducted a stolen vehicle exercise based on intelligence received, the officers proceeded to John Elie Road, Chase Village, where a blue Nissan AD Wagon was observed parked on the roadway. The officers conducted enquires into the vehicle, they also examined the car and discovered that the vehicle was used in a Robbery with Aggravation in the Tunapuna Police district on October 12th, 2022 at 3.40 am.
The vehicle was wrecked and investigations are ongoing. A roving exercise was conducted by officers of the Stolen Vehicles Squad, Port-of-Spain division on October 14th, around 9.00 pm, based on intelligence received the officers proceeded to a bushy area off Hitler Trace, Laventille, in the vicinity of Block 44 where a search was conducted and a black Carl Walther .380 pistol fitted with a magazine was discovered. The firearm was seized and taken to the Crime Scene Office Port-of-Spain for further enquires.
In another incident, a warrant exercise was also conducted early Friday morning in the Barataria Police Station district. A man from El Socorro Road, San Juan was arrested on four outstanding traffic offences.
While on the exercise the officers received information and went toa track along Chandoo Lane El Socorro where a search was conducted of a bushy area and a plastic bag containing 30.8grammes of marijuana was discovered, same was taken to the station for analysis.
In another warrant exercise duty in the Manzanilla district, a 60-year-old man of Plum Mitan Main Road was arrested for the offence of Possession of 131 grammes of Marijuana.
Investigations are continuing into all matters and arrests are imminent.
