Two per­sons were ar­rest­ed in con­nec­tion with stolen ve­hi­cles, a firearm, a mag­a­zine and nar­cotics dur­ing sev­er­al co­or­di­nat­ed ex­er­cis­es. De­tails fol­low in this press re­lease...

Po­lice of­fi­cers have ar­rest­ed two per­sons in con­nec­tion with three stolen ve­hi­cles while dis­cov­er­ing a firearm, a mag­a­zine and nar­cotics dur­ing sev­er­al co­or­di­nat­ed ex­er­cis­es last evening.

Dur­ing the ear­ly hours of Fri­day 14th Oc­to­ber, 2022, the Cen­tral Di­vi­sion Gang Unit con­duct­ed an in­tel­li­gence-led ex­er­cise in the Ch­agua­nas polic­ing dis­trict. The of­fi­cers searched a home at Ca­can­dee Road, Fe­lic­i­ty, where the of­fi­cers al­leged­ly dis­cov­ered 23 grammes of co­caine, one mag­a­zine and eight rounds of nine mil­lime­tre am­mu­ni­tion, and one black Nis­san Primera which was re­port­ed stolen. A man was ar­rest­ed and tak­en to the sta­tion pend­ing fur­ther in­ves­ti­ga­tion.

In the same ex­er­cise of­fi­cer made their way to an­oth­er house lo­cat­ed along Pierre Road, Fe­lic­i­ty, where they dis­cov­ered one black BMW, one Sil­ver Mit­subishi Lancer and one Sil­ver Ford Ranger all three ve­hi­cles matched the de­scrip­tion of re­port­ed stolen ve­hi­cles. The ve­hi­cles were wrecked to the sta­tion, and one per­son was ar­rest­ed in this mat­ter pend­ing fur­ther in­ves­ti­ga­tion.

Of­fi­cers of the Stolen Ve­hi­cles Squad in the Cen­tral Di­vi­sion con­duct­ed a stolen ve­hi­cle ex­er­cise based on in­tel­li­gence re­ceived, the of­fi­cers pro­ceed­ed to John Elie Road, Chase Vil­lage, where a blue Nis­san AD Wag­on was ob­served parked on the road­way. The of­fi­cers con­duct­ed en­quires in­to the ve­hi­cle, they al­so ex­am­ined the car and dis­cov­ered that the ve­hi­cle was used in a Rob­bery with Ag­gra­va­tion in the Tu­na­puna Po­lice dis­trict on Oc­to­ber 12th, 2022 at 3.40 am.

The ve­hi­cle was wrecked and in­ves­ti­ga­tions are on­go­ing. A rov­ing ex­er­cise was con­duct­ed by of­fi­cers of the Stolen Ve­hi­cles Squad, Port-of-Spain di­vi­sion on Oc­to­ber 14th, around 9.00 pm, based on in­tel­li­gence re­ceived the of­fi­cers pro­ceed­ed to a bushy area off Hitler Trace, Laven­tille, in the vicin­i­ty of Block 44 where a search was con­duct­ed and a black Carl Walther .380 pis­tol fit­ted with a mag­a­zine was dis­cov­ered. The firearm was seized and tak­en to the Crime Scene Of­fice Port-of-Spain for fur­ther en­quires.

In an­oth­er in­ci­dent, a war­rant ex­er­cise was al­so con­duct­ed ear­ly Fri­day morn­ing in the Barataria Po­lice Sta­tion dis­trict. A man from El So­cor­ro Road, San Juan was ar­rest­ed on four out­stand­ing traf­fic of­fences.

While on the ex­er­cise the of­fi­cers re­ceived in­for­ma­tion and went toa track along Chan­doo Lane El So­cor­ro where a search was con­duct­ed of a bushy area and a plas­tic bag con­tain­ing 30.8grammes of mar­i­jua­na was dis­cov­ered, same was tak­en to the sta­tion for analy­sis.

In an­oth­er war­rant ex­er­cise du­ty in the Man­zanil­la dis­trict, a 60-year-old man of Plum Mi­tan Main Road was ar­rest­ed for the of­fence of Pos­ses­sion of 131 grammes of Mar­i­jua­na.

In­ves­ti­ga­tions are con­tin­u­ing in­to all mat­ters and ar­rests are im­mi­nent.
