Two men were sentenced to two years hard labour and another denied bail yesterday after appearing before a Sangre Grande Magistrate, charged with store breaking and larceny.
Collin Graham, 27, a preschool teacher, of Oropouche Road Sangre Grande and Maurice Orosco, 25, a construction worker, of Sonja Circular, Sangre Grande, pleaded guilty.
Meanwhile, Jehu Francois, 37, a builder, of Coronation Road, Upper Sangre Grande, who pleaded not guilty was instead remanded into custody.
He was denied bail and will reappear before the court on October 23, to answer the charge.
The trio was charged on September 27 by PC Budhooram, of the Sangre Grande Criminal Investigations Department (CID), who
continued enquiries into a September 18th police report of Store Breaking and Larceny in which several electronics and cash were stolen.
According to the report, at 6 pm on September 18th, a sales clerk locked and secured a business place located along the Eastern Main Road, Sangre Grande, and went away.
The following day, at 8.48 am, she returned and observed a cellular phone showcase ransacked and several electronic devices missing and a door to the technician’s office broken into with an undisclosed amount of cash missing.
Police were alerted and a party of CID detectives responded.
An investigation was launched which resulted in three male suspects being traced and later charged with the offence.
