A Venezuelan was one of two persons arrested and charged with possession of marijuana for the purpose of trafficking, following an early morning anti-crime exercise in Moruga on Thursday April 15th.
A release from the Police Service reports that Trinidadian NICHOLAS RAMBERAN and Venezuelan national RAUL BENAVIDES, both of Debe Trace, Debe, were charged by officers of the Southern Division Task Force (SDTF).
According to the TTPS report, around 12:20 am on Thursday, officers of the SDTF, under the supervision of Sgt Joseph and Cpl Pulchan, were conducting an anticrime exercise which also covered the Cachipe Village, Moruga, area. While there, the officers stopped a blue Kia Caren which held two passengers.
Officers conducted a search of the vehicle and found six packages containing marijuana which weighed 6.12 kilogrammes. Both men were arrested and taken to the Moruga Police Station where they subsequently were charged by PC Bissoon.
Both accused were expected to appear in a virtual hearing before the Princes Town Magistrates’ Court today, Friday 16th April 2021.
