A Venezue­lan was one of two per­sons ar­rest­ed and charged with pos­ses­sion of mar­i­jua­na for the pur­pose of traf­fick­ing, fol­low­ing an ear­ly morn­ing an­ti-crime ex­er­cise in Moru­ga on Thurs­day April 15th.

A re­lease from the Po­lice Ser­vice re­ports that Trinida­di­an NICHOLAS RAM­BER­AN and Venezue­lan na­tion­al RAUL BE­NA­VIDES, both of Debe Trace, Debe, were charged by of­fi­cers of the South­ern Di­vi­sion Task Force (SDTF).

Ac­cord­ing to the TTPS re­port, around 12:20 am on Thurs­day, of­fi­cers of the SDTF, un­der the su­per­vi­sion of Sgt Joseph and Cpl Pul­chan, were con­duct­ing an an­ti­crime ex­er­cise which al­so cov­ered the Cachipe Vil­lage, Moru­ga, area. While there, the of­fi­cers stopped a blue Kia Caren which held two pas­sen­gers.

Of­fi­cers con­duct­ed a search of the ve­hi­cle and found six pack­ages con­tain­ing mar­i­jua­na which weighed 6.12 kilo­grammes. Both men were ar­rest­ed and tak­en to the Moru­ga Po­lice Sta­tion where they sub­se­quent­ly were charged by PC Bis­soon.

Both ac­cused were ex­pect­ed to ap­pear in a vir­tu­al hear­ing be­fore the Princes Town Mag­is­trates’ Court to­day, Fri­day 16th April 2021.
