More than a dozen voters with poll cards were turned away from the polls on Monday in the marginal electoral district of California-Point Lisas when they went to cast ballots at the Couva East Secondary School.

Couva South MP Rudranath Indarsingh said he got several calls earlier of a number of election discrepancies.

Indarsingh said a woman in possession of a poll card was told that her name was not on the list. He said the woman insisted that they look for her name on the binder until she was allowed to vote.

He said the police and the EBC seem to have been working with their own agenda and their interoperation of the rules as to where the mock stations should be.

Indarsingh said there was a high level of incontinence.

Candidate Ramchand Rajbal Maraj said complaints are coming from electors that returning officers are making life hard for electors and turning them away from the stations.

He said in some cases persons have been voting at these stations for several years.

Ryan Rampersad, one of the candidates for Longdenville Todds Road on the CTTRC said there was a steady flow of voters with a higher than usual number of young people exercising their rights to vote.
