The Water and Sewerage Authority (WASA) has completed temporary road reinstatement works along the west-bound lane of the Beetham Highway, Sea Lots, allowing traffic to move smoothly into Port-of-Spain.
In a statement yesterday, WASA said the work was completed at 12.45 am yesterday. It came after repair works led to heavy traffic congestion on Monday, the first day of the new academic year.
Commuters and motorists coming from South, Central, and East Trinidad, coming into the capital city, faced significant delays as the temporary roadworks caused traffic to back up along the highway.
Minister of Public Utilities Barry Padarath requested a report from WASA to clarify what transpired during the disruption.
The authority also confirmed that permanent road restoration is scheduled for today (September 10) and assured motorists that these works will not disrupt the normal flow of traffic.
