The Wa­ter and Sew­er­age Au­thor­i­ty (WASA) has com­plet­ed tem­po­rary road re­in­state­ment works along the west-bound lane of the Beetham High­way, Sea Lots, al­low­ing traf­fic to move smooth­ly in­to Port-of-Spain.

In a state­ment yes­ter­day, WASA said the work was com­plet­ed at 12.45 am yes­ter­day. It came af­ter re­pair works led to heavy traf­fic con­ges­tion on Mon­day, the first day of the new aca­d­e­m­ic year.

Com­muters and mo­torists com­ing from South, Cen­tral, and East Trinidad, com­ing in­to the cap­i­tal city, faced sig­nif­i­cant de­lays as the tem­po­rary road­works caused traf­fic to back up along the high­way.

Min­is­ter of Pub­lic Util­i­ties Bar­ry Padarath re­quest­ed a re­port from WASA to clar­i­fy what tran­spired dur­ing the dis­rup­tion. 

The au­thor­i­ty al­so con­firmed that per­ma­nent road restora­tion is sched­uled for to­day (Sep­tem­ber 10) and as­sured mo­torists that these works will not dis­rupt the nor­mal flow of traf­fic.
