The following is the bulletin issued by the Met Service to 06:00 am, today, covering the period: today until midnight…
TRINIDAD, TOBAGO AND THE REMAINDER OF THE LESSER ANTILLES
Generally hot, sunny and hazy day despite a few light to moderate showers. There is the low (30%) chance of an isolated heavy shower/thunderstorm favouring the afternoon over Trinidad. Mostly fair night despite the odd shower. Gusts and street/flash flooding possible in the event of a heavy downpour.
● Hazardous Seas Alert #1 – YELLOW LEVEL in effect.
North-northeasterly long period swells are expected to affect the northern and eastern exposed coastal areas of Tobago as well as the northern, north-eastern and, to a lesser extent, western coastal areas of Trinidad. This can result in occasional battering waves in coastal regions especially during high tides. These conditions are expected to persist until the morning of Thursday 12th October, 2023.
Instructions — All marine interests should monitor near-shore / coastal sea conditions and exercise caution along affected areas especially at high tides. Continue to monitor updates from official sites: TTMS at www.metoffice.gov.tt and access more information and instructions from www.odpm.gov.tt
● Hot Spell Alert #3 – YELLOW LEVEL remains in effect.
As the heat season progresses, warm south-easterly trade winds are forecast over the next several days which will contribute to producing above-normal daily temperatures. There is a high chance (80%) that this trend will continue until October 16th, 2023. Beyond this period, the chances of extremely high daily temperatures diminish, and warm conditions will continue. The daily temperatures are forecast to return to normal levels for the rest of October.
Over the coming week, temperatures are expected to reach near or exceed 34.0°C in Trinidad and near 33.0 °C or greater in Tobago. The hottest hours are between 10:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. In urban areas, temperatures may exceed 34.0°C, with "feel-like" temperatures ranging from 34.0°C to 44.0°C.
