The public’s help is being sought to identify the woman who was found dead with a knife lodged in her neck at an abandoned house in Curepe yesterday. The victim, who is of mixed descent, was discovered around 9 am, by someone living close by.
Officers of the St Joseph Police Station were alerted that a body was seen lying on a mattress in one of the bedrooms of the partially burnt house at Mc Donnell Street, Curepe.
The property, which was known to be frequented by drug pushers and homeless persons, was allegedly set on fire earlier this year. Upon arrival yesterday, officers found the deceased in the structure, which was exposed to the elements.
Several social media users objected to the term “piper”, which was ascribed to the victim, as they argued that the deceased was or used to be someone’s family member.
Roseanne Ramdial Hamilton questioned, “So the human being doesn’t have a name?” Lisa Temull, meanwhile, responded, “Exactly. That’s where we reach. Anyway, I hope it’s not Angel.” —Anna-Lisa Paul
