Discussions continue into the fate of the Calypso and Extempo monarch competitions today and the National Carnival Commission (NCC) Chairman, Winston "Gypsy" Peters hopes a determination can come as early as Tuesday afternoon.
In a brief update with Guardian Media, Peters said the NCC is meeting with the Trinbago Unified Calypsonians Organisation (TUCO) at 2 pm.
"I am having a meeting with TUCO's representatives to look at their finances," he said.
The competitions hang in limbo as TUCO says the $1.5 million allocated for them is not enough to run both events. Over the weekend TUCO's Acting President Ainsley King told Guardian Media a minimum of $1 million will be needed again to carry on both shows.
