As she clutched her nine-month-old son in her arms, a 20-year-old Vistabella waitress narrowly escaped death after she was stabbed in the abdomen on New Year’s Day following an argument with a man she knew.
Mikayla Augustus, 20, of Fabien Street, Vistabella suffered a laceration to her lung and is now resting in serious condition at the San Fernando General Hospital.
A 21-year-old suspect in Thompson Gardens, Tarodale, has since been arrested and a switchblade believed to have been used in the attack was seized.
Investigators said around 1:10 am, Augustus’s mother Melissa Boodasingh was at her home when her daughter returned with her 9-month-old baby son. The suspect confronted Augustus and pulled out a silver switchblade knife, which he reportedly used to stab Augustus in the abdomen.
