Army women look to stay perfect in WoLF

De­fence Force women will be keen to stay on top of the T&T Women’s League Foot­ball (TT WoLF) stand­ings when match­es re­sume this week­end (March 15-16) af­ter the month-long break for the Car­ni­val cel­e­bra­tions.

In their fi­nal match be­fore the break back on Feb­ru­ary 16, the De­fence Force women eked out a 1-0 win over de­fend­ing cham­pi­on Club San­do at the Ma­haica Sport­ing Com­plex, Point Fortin, with Aaliyah Prince scor­ing the de­ci­sive item for the vis­i­tors in the 38th minute which se­cured a fifth straight win from as many match­es for a max­i­mum of 15 points, three more than To­ba­go Chi­cas while Club San­do slipped to third af­ter drop­ping their first points in four match­es.

On Sun­day (March 16), De­fence Force will trav­el to Ari­ma for a 4 pm du­el against the fifth-placed Uni­ver­si­ty of T&T (UTT) at UTT Ground, O’Meara Road, Ari­ma with the hosts, win­ners of two of their four match­es so far this sea­son.

How­ev­er, on Sat­ur­day, To­ba­go Chi­cas will have a chance to join De­fence Force as tem­po­rary lead­ers when they meet Com­bined Ballerz in the sec­ond match of a dou­ble-head­er at the Sig­nal Hill Recre­ation Ground, from 4 pm while Jew­els FC and Black Pan­thers meet in the open­er two hours ear­li­er.

In the oth­er match­es slat­ed for Sun­day, Ath­let­ic In­ter­na­tion­al Acad­e­my faces Trinci­ty Na­tion­als at Ed­die Hart Recre­ation Ground, Tu­na­puna; Club San­do is at home to Pi­o­neer Girls at Man­nie Ramjohn Sta­di­um, Mara­bel­la, and Diego Mar­tin Cen­tral Unit­ed bat­tles Po­lice at Pat­na/Riv­er Es­tate Recre­ation­al Ground, Diego Mar­tin, all from 4 pm.
