MANTIN – A sterling bowling performance by West Indies’ Under-19 Women carried them to an exciting nine-run victory over Nepal’s Under-19 Women in their first warmup match in Malaysia on Monday ahead of the ICC’s Under-19 T20 World Cup.
After winning the toss and electing to bat, West Indies posted 109 for four in their 20 overs.
They were led by Samara Ramnath who topscored with 25, Asabi Callender added 23, Jahzara Claxton scored an unbeaten 22 and Abigail Bryce finished not out on 19.
Trisha Hardat (2-9), Aaliyah Weekes (2-16) and Amiah Gilbert (2-18), then bowled impressively to dismiss Nepal for 100 in 19.1 overs.
Seemana KC made 23, while Puja Mahato and Kiran Kunwar each scored 18 runs for Nepal.
The West Indies will face New Zealand in their second warm-up game on Tuesday.
