LONDON – Jos Buttler will return to captain an England side containing two Barbadians in Jofra Archer and Jacob Bethell, during their white ball tour of the Caribbean later this month.
The 14-man squad was announced on Tuesday and will see Buttler, who has been out since August with a calf injury, lead the side for three One Day Internationals and five T2oIs beginning October 31 in Antigua and finishing November 17.
It will be his first series in charge following a review of England’s set-up after June’s T20 World Cup, which saw head coach Matthew Mott step down.
Archer, who played his first ODI series in 18 months for England when he played in the just concluded five-match series against Australia, and the 20-year-old Bethell who made his debut for England in the T20 series and also featured in the ODIs, have also been included.
Bethell made an encouraging start to his international career, averaging 28 with the bat in five ODIs and 23 in two T20Is. He also took four ODI wickets at an economy rate of 6.61.
Meanwhile, uncapped leg-spinner Jafer Chohan, Hampshire fast bowler John Turner and Warwickshire all-rounder Dan Mousley, have earned their first England call-up.
The 22-year-old Chohan has taken 22 wickets in 23 T20 Blast matches for Yorkshire, including 17 in 10 games in 2024, and is the first graduate of the South Asian Cricket Academy (SACA) to be named in an England squad.
A further two players, who are yet to be named, will join the tour from the England Test squad, who finish their tour of Pakistan on October 28.
