Easy going for E-Z Lines as title glory is only two game weeks away. Match-day 13 of the National Mixed Format league of Darts was hosted by the T&T Darts Association (TTDA) at No 36 New Street, Port-of-Spain, on August 4.
E-Z Lines hold a six-point lead over second place after dispatching relegation-bound Pub House Pirates 9-1. The victory sees them cement first place and inch closer to clinching the title.
Following behind in second place is Jus For Fun Vikings, the Vikings took on fifth place Bullz I, winning 8-2. With two game weeks to go, the Vikings have a slim chance of snatching the title but need to keep up the pace and then win their final match against the league leaders. De Original Game Shot (DOGS) are ten points behind in third place after a comfortable 8-2 win over struggling Drifters.
DOGS' title hopes are not over yet; they are still in the race mathematically, however, they will need two perfect victories in their upcoming fixtures and favourable results in other matchups.
It was business as usual for champions-elect of the B division as Scorpions continued their march to glory. The league leaders had one of their toughest fixtures yet after battling to a very well-deserved but hard-fought 6-4 victory over sixth-placed Reckless Darts Team. It was 2-2 after the first block but in true Scorpions fashion, they dominated the encounter in the singles round and secured victory, which sees them maintain their unbeaten run of this campaign. Triple Vision were held to a 5-5 draw by third-placed Sea Wolves, meanwhile Jus For Fun Snipers enjoyed an easy 7-3 victory over fifth-place Shanghai Bulls.
In C division action, Flighted Friends were given a great boost after Mucurapo Musketeers were not able to field a team, resulting in all ten points being rewarded to the league leaders. Random Squad were on the receiving end of a shock 6-4 defeat at the hands of newcomers Pelterzzz. Bulldogs displaced and defeated Top Shot 7-3 to now occupy third place. League action continues Tuesday (August 12) at the same venue.
The TTDA held the second instalment of the divisional ranking tournament on Saturday (August 9). The C division winner is Francis Payne of Top Shot after defeating Maurice Berens of Random Squad in the final 2-0. The B division final was an all Scorpions affair as Hector Alzola defeated his teammate and captain Sheraz Rasool 3-0. Joshua Balfour of DOGS reigns again as the A division champion after defeating Adam Hepburn of E-Z lines 6-0 in the final. The TTDA, in a release, extended special thanks to Byden Pi for their continued support in powering these grab bag tournaments.
Dates for the T&T Zonal league have been confirmed with North Zone hosting the first day on September 21, East hosting on October 5 and South hosting on October 19. Venues and times are still to be determined.
