The Arima Race Club (ARC) will host the 11th Day of racing Monday (Labour Day) at the centralised facility, Santa Rosa Park in Arima.
The ARC is intent on making it a family day with entertainment on the track and on the ground for the family and children.
The highlight of the seven-race card will be the Fernandes Black Label Rum President’s Cup sponsored by Angostura Limited. The event is headlined by the 2021 “Horse of The Year”, Affirmative, which did the prestigious Stewards Cup and Gold Cup last year.
The Shivam Maharaj-owned Affirmative will be challenged by the John O’Brien-trained two, past Derby winners, the 2021 winner Stroke of Luck and the 2020 Triple Crown champion Wise Guy. The Champion trainer also has the speedy Super Bird engaged.
Of the eight horses entered in the prestigious event, the Lester Alexis-trained Arsalan must be respected after his good win on the turf where he is unbeaten. Desert Dancer is not one which you can discard easily as he has the form to upset them all.
The Terrance Thomas-trained 2021 Guineas winner Just Exhale has flattered to deceive and must improve to have a hand in the finish, while Pawan Putra who is arguably the most improved horse in training must be respected.
This race promises to be very exciting and will be run off at 4.35 pm. The ARC has some attractive guaranteed pools for the Pick 4, Pick 6, and High 5 bets tomorrow.
The day’s sponsor, Fernandes Black Label Rum, will be offering welcome drinks for patrons arriving before 2 pm and the Arima Angel Harps pan side will be providing entertainment throughout the day.
There will also be entertainment for the kids including a bouncy castle, an obstacle course as well as the sale of cotton candy, snow cones, and much more.
