ED­MON­TON, Al­ber­ta – Bar­ba­di­an jock­ey Da-sean Gaskin came away from the week­end at Cen­tu­ry Mile with his maid­en added-mon­ey suc­cess af­ter pick­ing up the fea­ture CAN$50 000 Mar­tin Deer­line Ju­ve­nile Stakes.

Rid­ing in the fi­nale of Sat­ur­day’s sev­en-race card, Gaskin com­bined with 3-1 choice Thun­der Roars to beat the two-year-olds by 3-3/4 lengths in a time of one minute, 05.45 sec­onds.

In a 5-1/2 fur­long dash, Jakobs Rock­et Boy showed ear­ly along with Tip­sy Tales and It­sall­go­od­man, as Gaskin raced Thun­der Roars five wide.

Tip­sy Tales led briefly at the top of the stretch be­fore Gaskin bought the brown geld­ing Thun­der Roars with a strong stretch ral­ly to take the ho­n­ours.

Gaskin fol­lowed up on an­oth­er sev­en-race pro­gramme on Sun­day when he paired with 4-1 bet Per­pet­u­al Bliss, to beat the three-year-old and up­ward fil­lies and mares in the $10 000 race three over 6-½ fur­longs.

Three-to-one bet Stub­born Love logged the ear­ly frac­tions be­fore be­ing chased down by Per­pet­u­al Bliss, Gaskin get­ting the four-year-old roan fil­ly to the wire 1-1/4 lengths clear.

Gaskin was up­staged on Sun­day’s card by fel­low coun­try­man N’Ri­co Prescod, how­ev­er, the 24-year-old cap­tur­ing the open­ing two races with 3-1 chance Flashin Aces and favourite Doc Cope re­spec­tive­ly.

Go­ing 6-1/2 fur­longs for the three-year-olds and up­ward in race one, Prescod stalked be­fore get­ting Flashin Aces to the front at the three-eights pole and out-du­elling favourite Sil­ver­foot to win by a neck.

In an­oth­er 6-½ fur­long trip in race two, Spot on Dude and Above and Be­yond pulled the field through the ear­ly frac­tions be­fore Prescod and the five-year-old bay geld­ing Doc Cope surged to the front at the top of the lane and edged away to reach the wire by 1-1/2 lengths.
