ST JOHN’S, An­tigua – With just three pre­lim­i­nary rounds re­main­ing, the un­beat­en Guyana Harpy Ea­gles have ex­tend­ed their lead at the top of the ta­ble in the West In­dies Cham­pi­onship.

The de­fend­ing cham­pi­ons trounced the Ja­maica Scor­pi­ons by 214 runs in the just con­clud­ed fourth round to reg­is­ter their third win and move to 81.2 points.

They are still close­ly fol­lowed by the al­so un­beat­en T&T Red Force on 77.8 points af­ter they reg­is­tered a hard fought 125-run vic­to­ry over the West In­dies Acad­e­my in the last round.

Bar­ba­dos Pride reeled off their third con­sec­u­tive win af­ter their open­ing round de­feat and are cur­rent­ly in third po­si­tion on 73 points.

The Lee­ward Is­lands Hur­ri­canes have fall­en to fourth place on 54.4 points af­ter suf­fer­ing an in­nings and 60 run de­feat at the hands of the Wind­ward Is­lands Vol­ca­noes, which en­abled them to climb to fifth po­si­tion on 42 points.

The Scor­pi­ons are in sixth on 35.6 points af­ter falling to their third straight loss, while the win­less Com­bined Cam­pus­es and Col­leges (20.6) and West In­dies Acad­e­my (19.8) oc­cu­py the cel­lar po­si­tions.

In the cru­cial fifth round that be­gins on Wednes­day, the Pride take on the Red Force, the Harpy Ea­gles clash with the Vol­ca­noes, the Hur­ri­canes and CCC do bat­tle, while the Scor­pi­ons come up against the West In­dies Acad­e­my.
