T&T’s Josiah Hills ended the Central America and the Caribbean Tennis Confederation (COTECC)-Trinidad International Junior (Under-14) Tennis Tournament on a high when he combined with El Salvador’s Mateo Gutierrez to capture the Boys Doubles title on Thursday (April 17).
Playing at the National Racquet Centre, Orange Grove Road, Tacarigua, the top-ranked duo of Hills and Gutierrez defeated T&T’s Christopher Khan and Barbadian Zane Kirton 7-5, 6-1.
On Wednesday in the semifinals, Gutierrez and Hills beat locals Brown and Jaysean Wells 6-1, 7-5 while the second-ranked duo of Khan and Kirton ousted locals Oliver Harragin and Jacob Jacelon 2-6, 6-7.
Earlier yesterday, the second-seeded Kirton captured the Boys U-14 Singles title when he brushed aside Gutierrez 6-4, 6-2.
In the semifinals on Wednesday, Kirton defeated T&T’s Jack Brown 6-2, 6-3 and Gutierrez humbled Hills 6-2, 6-0.
