Hills teams up with Gutierrez for U-14 Doubles win

T&T’s Josi­ah Hills end­ed the Cen­tral Amer­i­ca and the Caribbean Ten­nis Con­fed­er­a­tion (COTECC)-Trinidad In­ter­na­tion­al Ju­nior (Un­der-14) Ten­nis Tour­na­ment on a high when he com­bined with El Sal­vador’s Ma­teo Gutier­rez to cap­ture the Boys Dou­bles ti­tle on Thursday (April 17).

Play­ing at the Na­tion­al Rac­quet Cen­tre, Or­ange Grove Road, Tacarigua, the top-ranked duo of Hills and Gutier­rez de­feat­ed T&T’s Christo­pher Khan and Bar­ba­di­an Zane Kir­ton 7-5, 6-1.

On Wednes­day in the semi­fi­nals, Gutier­rez and Hills beat lo­cals Brown and Jay­sean Wells 6-1, 7-5 while the sec­ond-ranked duo of Khan and Kir­ton oust­ed lo­cals Oliv­er Har­ra­gin and Ja­cob Jacelon 2-6, 6-7.

Ear­li­er yes­ter­day, the sec­ond-seed­ed Kir­ton cap­tured the Boys U-14 Sin­gles ti­tle when he brushed aside Gutier­rez 6-4, 6-2.

In the semi­fi­nals on Wednes­day, Kir­ton de­feat­ed T&T’s Jack Brown 6-2, 6-3 and Gutier­rez hum­bled Hills 6-2, 6-0.
