Holder stars for Islamabad in opening match of Pakistan Super League

RAWALPIN­DI – West In­dies all-rounder Ja­son Hold­er pro­duced a bril­liant bowl­ing per­for­mance to bowl Is­lam­abad Unit­ed to a com­fort­able eight-wick­et vic­to­ry over La­hore Qa­lan­dars in the open­ing match of the Pak­istan Su­per League on Fri­day.

Hold­er, who was named Play­er-of-the-Match, grabbed four wick­ets with his medi­um pace to help dis­miss La­hore for just 139 in 19.2 overs at the Rawalpin­di Crick­et Sta­di­um.

Ab­dul­lah Shafique was the lone bright spark for La­hore, scor­ing 66 from 38 balls with six fours and three six­es.

Af­ter dis­miss­ing Mo­ham­mad Naeem for eight ear­ly on, Hold­er then re­turned to grab the wick­ets of Ja­han­dad Khan and David Weise in suc­ces­sive de­liv­er­ies to re­duce La­hore to 95 for sev­en.

He al­so ac­count­ed for cap­tain Sha­heen Shah Afri­di for two, to fin­ish with fig­ures of 4-24 from his four overs, while Shadab Khan took 3-25.

Col­in Munro then cracked an un­beat­en 59 from 42 de­liv­er­ies and Salman Agha fin­ished on 41 not out, to lead Is­lam­abad to 143 for two from 17.4 overs.
