KINGSTON – Jamaica Under-20 captain Jaileah Mcpherson has been included in the Reggae Girlz squad to face Mexico in two away friendly Internationals on April 5 & 6 in Kansas City, USA.
The University of Memphis defender joins a backline that also includes veteran Allyson Swaby, Naya Cordoza, Chantelle Swaby and Konya Plummer.
Head coach Hubert Busby has also recalled USL’s Tampa Bay Sun goalkeeper Sydney Schneider, along with custodians Liya Brooks and Rebecca Spencer.
The rest of the squad features midfielders Olufolasade Adamolekun, Drew Spence, Deneisha Blackwood, Vyan Sampson and Jade Bailey.
The forwards include Tiffany Cameron, Paige Bailey-Gayle, Jody Brown, Shania Hayles, Reanna Blades, Kayla McKenna, Trudi Carter, Shaniel Buckley and Kameron Simmonds.
The squad will continue to be without the injured star forward Khadija ‘Bunny’ Shaw from Manchester City. When asked about the return of Shaw, coach Busby says he is still waiting on an update.
“We are still yet to hear from her club side Manchester City regarding her progress, but a club of that magnitude will surely give her the best treatment, and we know she is in good hands. We will surely miss her services because any team with a Bunny Shaw in it is a better team.”
The last time the Reggae Girlz played Mexico in a Concacaf women’s championship encounter, the Jamaicans came away with a 1-0 victory courtesy of a Shaw strike back in 2022.
