Evin Lewis and the Steelpan Strikers exacted revenge on the Soca Kings when the TTCB Dream11 T10 Blast continued at the Brian Lara Cricket Academy, Tarouba, San Fernando on Friday.
These two teams met on Thursday with the Kings coming away with an 8-wicket win but the Strikers were more clinical in Friday's win.
Once again, the Kings won the toss and chose to field first. Evin Lewis had a new opening partner in Mark Deyal (one run from three balls) but was not very interested in sharing the strike. After Deyal's dismissal, Lewis went on a tilt to reach his second half-century in as many days off 16 balls. Sunil Narine had Lewis caught by Shaquille Duncan for 53 with the Strikers positioned on 83 for two and then removed Vikash Mohammed with his next delivery when Jason Mohammed held on to a smart catch at first slip. Amidst a suddenly rapid fall of wickets, Strikers captain Imran Khan held things together long enough for the Strikers to reach 129 for 5, an identical score to Thursday's defeat. Khan was not out on 34 from 21 balls with four fours and one six.
In reply, Narine was mostly a spectator while Leonardo Julien took lead in their opening partnership. Narine was dismissed for 13 in the third over while Julien would score 26 before departing caught Lewis bowled Ramdial in at the start of the fifth over.
Jason Mohammed joined Jesse Bootan hoping to be able to repeat their heroics from the day before. They combined in a 41-run stand for the third wicket which was broken by Ramdial who had the wicket of Bootan in the 7th over with the Strkers on 83 for three. He made a robust 37 from 10 balls. It was the wicket the Strikers needed as Mohammed and Seepaul just could not keep up that momentum and the Soca Kings wilted to 114 for five from 10 over, losing by 15 runs.
