BENGALURU – Despite a decent outing with the bat, Hayley Matthews’ Mumbai Indians Women were completely outplayed by the Delhi Capitals Women, falling to a nine-wicket defeat in the Women’s Premier League (WPL) in India on Friday.
Matthews scored 22 from 25 balls and was the joint topscorer with captain Harmanpreet Kaur, as the Mumbai Indians were limited to a below par 123 for nine from their 20 overs at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium after being sent in to bat.

Minnu Mani and Jess Jonnassen both snared three wickets to trigger a collapse that saw the Mumbai Indians lose their last eight wickets for 50 runs.
Capitals’ captain Meg Lanning then hit an unbeaten 60 from 49 balls and Shafali Verma pummelled 43 from 28 balls to steer their team to 124 for one off 14.3 overs.
The pair added 85 runs for the first wicket and when Verma was dismissed, Jemimah Rodrigues scored 15 not out to ensure there would be no further losses.
