ABU DHABI, Unit­ed Arab Emi­rates – Shai Hope scored an im­pres­sive cen­tu­ry, but it was not enough to earn his Dubai Cap­i­tals a win over Nicholas Pooran’s MI Emi­rates when the In­ter­na­tion­al League T20 con­tin­ued on Mon­day.

Hope smashed 101 off 59 balls, but got lit­tle oth­er help as the Cap­i­tals were lim­it­ed to 161 for six in their 20 overs in pur­suit of the Emi­rates’ to­tal of 187 for sev­en, to lose by 26 runs.

He added 54 runs for the open­ing part­ner­ship with Ben Dunk, who scored 10 runs, and then 61 with Bran­don Mc­Mullen, who made 16, to put the Cap­i­tals in a strong po­si­tion of 115 for one in the 14th over.

How­ev­er, once Hope was dis­missed af­ter strik­ing 11 fours and three six­es with the score 135 for three in the 16th over, the Cap­i­tals lost their way.

Fazal­haq Fa­rooqui took 2-22, while West In­dies pac­er Alzarri Joseph fin­ished with 2-43 for the Emi­rates.

Ear­li­er, af­ter be­ing put in to bat, Pooran scored 59 from 29 de­liv­er­ies with six six­es and two fours, and to­geth­er with Tom Ban­ton, who scored 74 from 52 de­liv­er­ies, put on 109 runs for the third wick­et to help get Emi­rates up to a com­pet­i­tive to­tal.

Af­ter Pooran was dis­missed, fel­low Trinida­di­an Kieron Pol­lard scored 22 runs to en­sure the in­nings did not fal­ter at the death, fol­low­ing the cheap dis­missals of Ro­mario Shep­herd for four and Joseph, who made a duck.
