EDMONTON – Trinidadian jockeys Brian Boodramsingh and Keihton Natera, along with Barbadians Desmond Bryan and N’Rico Prescod, all logged wins on Friday’s abbreviated card at Century Mile in Alberta, Canada.

Nine races were originally scheduled for the evening’s programme at the western Canada oval but the last two were scrapped due to equipment malfunction.

The quartet, however, made the most of the races up for grabs. Veteran Bryan, 52, led off the Caribbean effort when he captured the curtain-raiser, carrying 2-1 chance Ms Mini Warrior to a 1-1/2 length win in a 350-yard dash for three-year-old and upward quarter horses.

Boodramsingh, Trinidad and Tobago’s reigning champion jockey, won race four in fortuitous circumstances with Force to Rekn With when favourite Missczech, with Jamaican rider Dane Nelson aboard, was disqualified after finishing first.

In a 5-1/2 furlong sprint for the three-year-old and upward fillies and mares, Nelson thought he had taken the five-year-old mare to victory only to have the stewards intervene and squash the result due to interference.

Force to Rekn With, who missed out by a head, was awarded the win with Missczech placed second.

Prescod made his presence felt in race five over 5-½ furlongs when he combined with 5-1 chance Toriador to edge out the three-year-old and upwards by a neck.

Toriador, a seven-year-old brown gelding, set the pace from the break but was forced to fend off the fast-finishing 2-1 bet Asyoubelieve before taking the win.

Natera followed up in a five furlong sprint in race six when he made all the running aboard 3-1 chance Lil Zapper to dismiss the three-year-olds and upward by a half-length.
