All match­es on the open­ing day of the Crick­et West In­dies (CWI) Ris­ing Stars Un­der-17 Su­per 50 Cham­pi­onship, yes­ter­day, were aban­doned due to rain.

T&T’s youth team, led by left-hand­ed open­ing bats­man Justin Jages­sar, who fea­tured on the West In­dies Ris­ing Stars U-19 team last year and ear­li­er this year, was sched­uled to play Ja­maica at In­shan Ali Park in Preysal, Cou­va.

Heavy show­ers al­so caused no re­sults in the match-up be­tween the Lee­ward Is­lands and the Wind­ward Is­lands at Gilbert Park in Cou­va and the clash with Bar­ba­dos and Guyana at the Na­tion­al Crick­et Cen­tre (NCC) in Bal­main, Cou­va.

The home team, which is be­ing coached by for­mer out­stand­ing na­tion­al crick­eter Rayad Em­rit and man­aged by Ra­jen­dra Man­galie, who al­so played re­gion­al crick­et for T&T, will hope for clear skies when it faces off against Guyana at Pow­er­gen crick­et ground in Pe­nal, to­mor­row.

In the match­es set for to­mor­row, Lee­wards take on Bar­ba­dos at In­shan Ali Park and Ja­maica meets Wind­wards at NCC.
