All matches on the opening day of the Cricket West Indies (CWI) Rising Stars Under-17 Super 50 Championship, yesterday, were abandoned due to rain.
T&T’s youth team, led by left-handed opening batsman Justin Jagessar, who featured on the West Indies Rising Stars U-19 team last year and earlier this year, was scheduled to play Jamaica at Inshan Ali Park in Preysal, Couva.
Heavy showers also caused no results in the match-up between the Leeward Islands and the Windward Islands at Gilbert Park in Couva and the clash with Barbados and Guyana at the National Cricket Centre (NCC) in Balmain, Couva.
The home team, which is being coached by former outstanding national cricketer Rayad Emrit and managed by Rajendra Mangalie, who also played regional cricket for T&T, will hope for clear skies when it faces off against Guyana at Powergen cricket ground in Penal, tomorrow.
In the matches set for tomorrow, Leewards take on Barbados at Inshan Ali Park and Jamaica meets Windwards at NCC.
All matches bowl off at 9.30 am.
