The man suspected of beating a female relative with a piece of iron, leaving her in a coma at hospital, has been found dead in Carlsen Field.
Police said the body of Arnold Ganesh, 44, was discovered at 10.30 am yesterday by his family members.
Ganesh’s decomposing body was found hanging from a tree located in bushy lands next to Dalphus Avenue, Thompson Road, Palmiste, in the Carlsen Field area.
Ganesh’s elder brother Andre Wilson told Guardian Media that relatives had been searching for him for the last five days, following a violent dispute he had with a female relative.
“The last thing he told me was that he drank the poison and was going to hang himself.”
Wilson said the death of his brother was heartbreaking.
“It has been a hard five days. We have been looking for him, hoping that we would have found him alive. Today, being the 31st of December, it’s a date we would remember.”
Wilson said Ganesh was a builder and the two were close.
He admitted that his brother attacked a 32-year-old female relative who he had been in a relationship with for 11 years on Saturday.
“It has always been a troublesome relationship, back and forth, back and forth,” Wilson said.
Police said Ganesh attacked the woman with a piece of iron in the house they shared at Dalphus Trace, Thompson Road, before running off, saying he was going to drink a poisonous substance.
The woman was discovered shortly after by her 10-year-old son, who alerted relatives.
The woman remained in a critical condition in hospital in an induced coma last evening.
