BRIDGETOWN – Defending champions Settlers slipped to their second successive defeat while Pelicans continued their playoff push with a thrilling victory when the BIM10 cricket tournament continued in Barbados on Monday.
Playing at the Windward Cricket Ground, Guardians picked up their fourth win in eight matches when they upset Settlers by 24 runs.
Their captain Roshon Primus smashed 46 runs from just 14 balls, inclusive of five sixes and three fours to help get Guardians up to 105 for four from their 10 overs.
Aaron Daley (3-9) and Ryshon Williams (3-12) then ran through the Settlers’ batting to restrict them to 81 for nine in 10 overs.
Meanwhile, Pelicans narrowly pipped Warriors by two wickets in a contest that went down to the last ball of the match.
Batting first, the Warriors only mustered 75 for six from 10 overs, with Chemar Holder grabbing 2-10 from his two overs.
In their chase, Pelicans got home off the last ball, finishing on 76 for eight to register a thrilling victory.
