Joshua Shep­pard notched 24 points for Ari­ma Cen­tral Sec­ondary School but his team was in the los­ing end against Holy Cross Col­lege in the Boys Un­der-20 Di­vi­sion of the Sec­ondary Schools Bas­ket­ball League's East Zone com­pe­ti­tion.

Holy Cross man­aged to pull off a 47-40 win in an in­tense match-up played at the East­ern Re­gion­al In­door Sports Are­na (ERISA) in Tacarigua on Mon­day af­ter­noon.

Lead­ing the of­fence for Holy Cross were Samuel Wal­dron (12) and Ro­han Khanai (12), who com­bined for 24 points in the win­ning ef­fort. Both play­ers shared the "Most Valu­able Play­er" award for their team while Shep­pard earned it for his team.

Mi­ca­iah Dyett re­ceived the same award for his St George's Col­lege team af­ter lead­ing them to a 28-20 vic­to­ry over San Juan North in the fi­nal match of three match­es played that day. He top-scored with 16.

In the open­ing match played that af­ter­noon, Chris­t­ian Zoe stepped up of­fen­sive­ly to see Hillview Col­lege to a 34-28 win over Tu­na­puna Sec­ondary in the Boys U-15 Di­vi­sion. Zoe, the team's MVP, pro­duced a match-high 24 points.

Aaron Patrick, award­ed the best play­er for Tu­na­puna, was the main con­trib­u­tor to his team's points with 11.

Ac­tion con­tin­ues to­day with a triple-head­er at the Mal­oney In­door Sports Are­na (MISA), start­ing from 1 pm be­fore go­ing on a break for the Car­ni­val cel­e­bra­tions. Play restarts on March 7 with an­oth­er triple-head­er at the Mal­oney venue.
