Trepte, Ramirez crowned National Criterium champs

Liam Trepte and Alexi Ramirez were crowned na­tion­al cham­pi­ons when the T&T Cy­cling Fed­er­a­tion held its Na­tion­al Road Cri­teri­um on Sun­day at the South­ern Main Road-Round­about ad­ja­cent to the Min­istry of Works and Trans­port, Li­cens­ing Of­fice to Wash­ing­ton Round­about.

In the race for the Men's Elite 16-laps ride, Trepte of Raiders Cy­cle and Mul­ti­sport rode to vic­to­ry ahead of Tariq Woods of Evo­lu­tion Cy­cling Acad­e­my and his club­mate Nathan Alexan­der while Kirt­son George of Heat­wave was fourth, and Ben­jamin Mout­tet of Break­away, fifth across the fin­ish line.

Trepte was a dou­ble win­ner on the day as he al­so cap­tured the na­tion­al ti­tle in the Un­der-23 Men's Elite com­pe­ti­tion, beat­ing Woods and Mout­tet to the top spot, with Evo­lu­tion's Jean-Marc Grander­son in fourth and En­rique De Co­mar­mond in fifth.

The USA-based Ramirez of Heat­wave/Mi­a­mi Blaz­ers braved the hot and hu­mid con­di­tions to take the top spot in the Women's Elite cat­e­go­ry ahead of Heat­wave's Cheyenne Awai and Phoebe Sandy of Madon­na Wheel­ers while Mar­sha Trepte of Raiders Cy­cle and Mul­ti­sport and un­at­tached en­trant Kani­ka Paul-Payne were fourth and fifth, re­spec­tive­ly.
