T&T Under-20 netballers recorded their second win at the 2025 Netball Youth World Cup Americas Qualifiers currently taking place in Pointe-a-Pitre, Guadeloupe.

The local team whipped hosts Guadeloupe 106-4 at the Paul Chonchon Hall in the final match of the second day on Tuesday (July 9) night. The red, white and black representatives showed little mercy for the Guadeloupeans racing to a 26-0 lead at the end of the first quarter. The home side was finally able to score with two minutes and 20 seconds left in the second half to take the score to 46-1. They got in another as the scoreboard at halftime read 46-2.

On the resumption, the "Calypso Girls" continued to dominate the encounter extending the lead to 77-3 at the end of the penultimate quarter and sealed victory by 102 goals to register the highest score in the tournament to date.

The win was the second for the day for T&T as it defeated St Maarten 62-23 in the first match of the day, during the morning session.

Goal Attack Katty Ann Graham was on fire for the national squad against Guadeloupe scoring 52 of her 63 attempts while goal-shooter Maikea Bramble impressed with 44 from 48.

Jellisa Goodridge sparkled with seven from as many tries and Shaniya Morgan netted three of four.

Goodridge (28/32) and Morgan (25/32) led the scoring in the win against St Maarten along with Bramble (3/5) and Graham (6/9).

Head coach Kalifa Mc Collin-Lopez was happy with the team's second triumph but wants the players to improve.

"Satisfying but I am never 100 percent satisfied. We have to focus on the improvements we had to make. We wanted to, as best as we can, manage the athletes. My expectations for the shooters are very high."

Mc Collin-Lopez explained that she has not lost sight of the remaining matches in the tournament, saying: "I still think that the accuracy needs to be much better than it is, as the much more experienced teams will punish us if we are not scoring."

She added that the remaining matches may be more intense.

"They (the players) may think they are winning games and we (the staff) are quite hard on them (but) we are looking forward to the competition and how physical it is going to get. I think the schedule allows us to a steady incline to the toughest match. We are looking to it and they are quite optimistic."

The former Australian Suncorp Super Netball League player said the local contingent has adjusted well in Guadeloupe.

"The girls are managing quite well. Assistant coach Crystal Ann George (and I) we have built a great rapport with the girls and they understand what is expected of them."

T&T was set to play Antigua and Barbuda late Wednesday (July 10) at 7 pm.
