Ren­ny Quow, Asa Gue­vara, Sha­keem McK­ay and Jereem Richards were T&T's last chance of medal at the World Ath­let­ics Cham­pi­onships in Hun­gary but the quar­tet placed sev­enth in heat one of the men's 4x400 me­tres re­lay event.

The lo­cal team, run­ning in the or­der above, clocked a sea­son's best three min­utes and 01.54 sec­onds but failed to ad­vance to Sun­day's fi­nal at Bu­dapest23. Win­ning the open­ing heat was the USA team of Trevor Bassitt, Matthew Bol­ing, Christo­pher Bai­ley and Justin Robin­son with a time of 2:58.47.

In sec­ond place was the In­di­an four­some of Muhammed Anas Yahiya, Amoj Ja­cob, Muhammed Aj­mal Variy­atho­di and Ra­jesh Ramesh 2:59.05. The oth­er qual­i­fiers were Great Britain (Lewis Dav­ey, Charles Dob­son, Rio Mitcham and Alex Hay­dock-Wil­son) and Botswana (Zibane Ngozi, Babolo­ki Thebe, Laone Dit­shete­lo, Le­un­go Scotch) who had iden­ti­cal times of 2:59.42.

Al­so fin­ish­ing ahead of T&T were Japan (Nao­hi­ro Ji­nushi, Fu­ga Sato, Ken­taro Sato, Yu­ki Joseph Naka­ji­ma) with 3:00.39 and the Czech Re­pub­lic (Matej Krsek, Pavel Maslak, Vit Muller, Pa­trik Sorm) with 3:00.99 in fifth and sixth place, re­spec­tive­ly.

In the sec­ond semi­fi­nal, Ja­maica's quar­tet of Rusheen Mc­Don­ald, Je­vaughn Pow­ell, Zan­dri­on Barnes, and D’An­dre An­der­son sped to vic­to­ry with a sea­son-best time of 2:59.82, fol­lowed close­ly by France team of Lud­vy Vail­lant, Loic Pre­vot, David Sombe, Teo An­dant, who al­so clocked a sea­son-best of 3:00.05, and Italy team of Da­vide Re, Edoar­do Scot­ti, Loren­zo Be­nati and Alessan­dro Sibilio, who crossed the with a 3:00.14-tim­ing.

The Nether­lands (Liemar­vin Boneva­cia, Ter­rence Agard, Ram­sey An­gela, Isaya Klein Ikkink) round­ed off the list of fi­nal­ists, fin­ish­ing third in semi­fi­nal heat two, al­so with a sea­son's best time of 3:00.23.
