Barbadian Xzavier Wiggins has got a lock on the title when he followed up his 76 on Tuesday with a 75 yesterday for a total of 151, to lead by 29 strokes on the second day of the 10th Republic Bank Caribbean Junior Open which continued in beautiful conditions at the St Andrews Golf Course, Moka, Maraval. Twelve foreign juniors are competing this year, in all, there are 69 juniors competing in the various categories.
Wiggins leads the boy's 16-17 age group, from local boy Brandon Matabadal, who is on 180 and Tobago's Reyaz Rambarran who is in third place on 186 with St Lucia's Joseph Rayshorn in the fourth spot with 188.
In the 16-17 girls, T&T's Yeji Lee did not play as well and added an 81 to her first-day score of 73 but her 154 total is 18 strokes better than her compatriot Sarah Ramphal who improved today shooting an 83 for second place behind a total of 172. Krista Kent from Tobago is in the third position on 211 ahead of St Lucian Lisa Daniel on 227.
Chris Richards Jnr finished poorly to shoot 79 for a total of 155 among the boys in the 14 to 15 age group. He leads Zico Correia by two strokes in second place for his 157. Jean-Marc Chevrotiere is in third with scores of 82, and 85 for a 167 total, with Dravid Bhim of T&T in fourth place on 171. Irfan Emamalie is fifth on 174.
The girl's 14-15 age group is led by Barbadian Emily Odwin with matching 85's on the first two days of play. She is 43 strokes ahead of local talent Azariah Joseph who is on 213, countrywoman Jada Charles is two strokes behind on 215 after scores of 111 and 104.
Ethan Hill leads the 13 & under age group with scores of 89 and 87 for a total of 176. Barbadian Quinton Heljenjenk has shot 96 and 88 to total 184 to lie in second place, while T&T's Jerseen Boodram on 186 after scores of 87 and 99.
The girls 13 and under T&T's Chloe Ajodha recorded scored scores of 94 and 99 for a 15 stroke lead over countrywoman Faatimah Emamalie on 208.
Tiffany Walker won the Girls 6-hole shooting contest by 35 strokes beating Natalyia Ramjag into second place on 36 strokes. The boy's version was won by Shamuel Letren with 34 strokes, he pipped five-year-old Barbadian Eli Wiggins who had 34.
